FALCoN with Ellen Eischeen. Whose Class Is It Anyway? Improv as a Tool for Teaching and Learning.
Description
Workshop description: Skills for listening, communicating, and collaborating play key roles in teaching and learning. These skills are also crucial in improvisational theater, such as the comedic show Whose Line Is It Anyway? and other unscripted performances. I will discuss my experience employing improv exercises to engage students and build community in an undergraduate math course. Workshop attendees will get to experience one of these exercises in breakout rooms. Be prepared to participate, turn on your video camera, and get out of your comfort zone.
