Description
Note: This is for instructors working on their Instructional Redesign with the Drake Institute.

Interested in pursuing the Drake Institute's Instructional Redesign (IR) program but worried about having the time to complete the process? IR doesn't have to be hard! In fact, IR projects can be simple and, at the same time, significantly impact student achievement.

To assist instructors in effectively designing, implementing and assessing instructional redesign, the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning has developed several "IR Recipes." In this session, Institute consultants will share a Jigsaw Strategy recipe with participants who will be able to immediately infuse that evidence-based strategy in their courses and identify approaches to assessing its impact.

Participants are only asked to arrive motivated to improve practice, and they’ll leave with a plan for effective, evidence-based change using Jigsaw!

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Describe the evidence-based strategy of jigsaw.
  • Plan implementation of jigsaw in their own context.
  • Anticipate and overcome barriers to effective use of the jigsaw strategy.
  • Identify appropriate assessments to measure the effectiveness of the jigsaw strategy.
