Including More Diverse Scientists in the Biology Curriculum
Please join us as Kellen Calinger-Yoak and Troy Markham present their work on increasing the visibility of diverse scientists in our introductory biology courses. They will present a curated list of scientists (both historical and contemporary figures) aligned with the Biology 1113 and 1114 course learning outcomes. This list includes pictures of the scientists, the persons’ bio/personal website, peer reviewed work, and a popular science article (if applicable). Kellen and Troy will provide examples assignments that could be used with this list, and are looking forward to feedback on the format and functionality.
