Description
This workshop explores the implementation of token economy systems in university- level biology labs to enhance student motivation and self-efficacy. Token economies, widely recognized in behavioral science, offer an engaging, accessible approach to foster active participation and sustained learning. Participants will engage in hands-on brainstorming sessions to adapt token economy frameworks to their own laboratory courses. Discussions will include an overview of current research highlighting the impact of token economies on student motivation, self-efficacy, and broader academic and personal outcomes. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to implement token economies in their teaching, fostering a more supportive and motivating environment for student success.
Speaker: Tricia Rushing, Ph.D., Faculty Success Manger, Catalyst Education
