This interactive workshop invites Ohio State’s educators to reflect on their teaching practices, explore strategies that address Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) and foster intellectual diversity, and engage with resources for ongoing professional learning. Participants will learn how to demonstrate a commitment to intellectual diversity through syllabi, student learning activities, and assessment practices. This workshop is collaboratively offered by the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Explain connections between intellectual diversity, evidence-informed teaching practices, and academic freedom and responsibility.
  • Reflect on how their teaching values and practices support intellectual diversity.
  • Evaluate strategies for promoting intellectual diversity across disciplines and instructional contexts.
  • Identify course elements that signal a commitment to intellectual diversity.
  • Develop a plan for continued professional learning in this area.
