Description
As a way to connect future faculty interested in teaching, CIRTL is hosting its first Future Faculty Teaching Summit to share their own teaching practices, and a space to discuss current and future teaching interests with graduate student and postdocs across the nation. The summit will be broken up into two parts: Part 1 will give participants an opportunity to learn about teaching at different universities through the sharing of teaching artifacts; Part 2 will be structured as an unconference, allowing participants to vote and choose discussions around teaching and learning that most interest them and connect with like minded future faculty across CIRTL. By the end of the summit, participants will leave with new ideas for their own teaching and a better of idea of what it is like to teach at the various types of universities who are part of the CIRTL network. Administrators and centers for teaching and learning staff are welcome to participate as silent observers to the conversations to better understand the teaching interests and challenges of graduate students and postdocs across the CIRTL network.
Summit Schedule
This teaching summit takes place online at 3-6PM ET / 2-5PM CT / 1-4PM MT / 12-3PM PT on Thursday, November 21.
Workload
Before the session, participants will be expected to answer a brief survey and upload a teaching artifact for discussion during the session; artifacts can be a video clip, photo, screenshot, assignment, handout, other object highlighting an aspect or priority of your instructional practice.
Registration & Enrollment
This summit is limited to 40 participants.
Early registration for CIRTL members only is open from August 19 through October 31. Regular registration runs from November 1 through November 15. STEM/SBE grad students and postdocs from CIRTL institutions receive priority; we refer to the institution, role, and discipline in your website profile when assessing priority.
