Description
Ally is a tool to assist instructors in their efforts to make course material
more accessible. Integrated within CarmenCanvas, Ally scans course content and
provides a report rating the accessibility of the content. It suggests ways to
improve the accessibility of the course content and can even automatically
provide students with alternative formats for many course materials. This
workshop will introduce participants to Ally and cover the basic features of
the tool within the CarmenCanvas context, including reports, available material
remediation, and what alternative file formats are available to students. We
will also discuss the tool's limitations and where to prioritize your efforts.

Please note that this workshop will focus on the technical strategies of
using Ally. While it may reference accessibility strategies such as the 7 Core
skills or the 3 R framework, the facilitators are not accessibility experts and
may not be able to address specific questions on what makes content accessible.
We recommend you reach out to your unit's accessibility experts regarding such
questions.
