Join the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning’s Graduate Consultants for our Graduate Teaching Toolkit: Fostering Student Engagement with Universal Design for Learning on September 10, 2024, from 11:00am – 12:30pm in the Interfaith Prayer and Reflection Room, Ohio Union. Lunch will be provided!
These specialized workshops are designed by graduate students, for graduate students, for exploring core competencies, supporting professional development, and building community across graduate students.
In this workshop, we will explore the first principle of Universal Design for Learning: Engagement. Participants will be introduced to strategies to recruit and sustain student interest and effort and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
After this workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand the first principle of the Universal Design for Learning framework: Engagement
- Articulate what an inclusive classroom environment means in their specific teaching context
- Identify techniques for sustaining student interest
