Description
For better or worse, communication styles influence the way we perceive—and are perceived by—others. Understanding communication styles and strategically using them in different situations can enhance graduate students’ and postdocs’ experiences with students, faculty, researchers, and other individuals. In this session you will learn more about what it means to have a supportive, emotive, reflective, or directive communication style. You will also brainstorm how to work effectively across different communication styles to bring about positive outcomes and manage conflict.
