Description
The Michael V. Drake Institute is excited to announce an upcoming book group opportunity. Margaret Murphy (Instructional Design Coordinator, College of Public Health) and Byron Roush (Director of Educational Technology, College of Social Work) will be leading a synchronous, online discussion of Derek Bruff’s Intentional Tech: Principles to Guide the Use of Educational Technology in College Teaching. This experience will include 8 sessions held via zoom across 8 weeks, beginning on Tuesday, February 16th with an asynchronous session. Sessions will be held every Tuesday from 2 pm to 3 pm, ending on April 6. Participants will gain valuable information to support the creation of an effective framework for integrating or refining integration of technology in their teaching. Participants in this cohort will brainstorm, together, the creation and evaluation of engaging activities and assignments. This experience qualifies as an approved pathway for the Drake Institute’s Instructional Redesign Program, and activities completed within the course will support IR efforts. To register for this group, please use the registration link provided below.''
After this workshop participants will be able to:
Discuss concepts in book, select concepts that integrate with their program/course learning outcomes and connect them to their current course design approach.
Identify assessment and activities in their courses that already incorporate concepts mentioned in the book and evaluate those assessments and activities in their courses for pedagogical soundness.
Collectively and individually brainstorm assessment and evaluation activities that incorporate concepts learned in the book.
