Description
Two key competencies for students are information literacy and data literacy. Data literacy has been described “as the component of information literacy that enables individuals to access, interpret, critically assess, manage, handle, and ethically use data” (Prado and Marzal, 2013, p. 126).
In this workshop, participants will have a chance to explore the connections between data literacy and information literacy. What are the distinctions between these two concepts? What are the areas of intersection? Participants should leave with a better understanding of these concepts as well as ideas for incorporating an emphasis on data information literacy into their courses.
This workshop is open to all faculty, instructors, graduate teaching associates and staff at Ohio State. This event will take place on Thursday, October 20 from noon until 1 p.m. via Zoom.
For eligible participants, attendance at the workshop can count toward completion of the Teaching Information Literacy teaching endorsement through the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning.
Make sure you RSVP with the CLSE and the hosting unit!
