Description
While research assignments are common in higher education, they can also be sources of frustration for both students and instructors. Due to their academic experience and disciplinary knowledge, instructors may have expectations related to student performance on these assignments that they may not explicitly address with students. Recognizing and addressing these tacit expectations may create a more equitable learning environment for all students.

This workshop, part of the Information Literacy Virtual Workshop Series, will help instructors to identify the “hidden” expectations within research assignments that may create challenges for students. Participants will also learn strategies for revising research assignments to be more transparent.

This workshop is open to all instructors, librarians, instructional support staff, and graduate teaching associates at Ohio State. This workshop counts as one credit hour toward the Teaching Information Literacy endorsement from the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning.
