Description
The term “Flipped Classroom” is one that has generated discussion around the world of education. Through this method of teaching, content delivery using face-to-face classroom time is “flipped.” In a “Flipped Classroom” students learn the primary material for the course independently outside of the classroom and then come to class prepared to engage with the content. This engagement includes discussion, hands on activities, and scaffolding of student learning beyond just the basics of the text in the classroom.
This session will introduce the “Flipped Classroom” concept, give examples of implementation strategies, highlight OSU tools that can be implemented in this teaching style, and recommend resources for further exploration.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Identify and explain the "Flipped Classroom"
Identify reasons not to implement a "flipped" model
Identify reasons to implement a "flipped" model
Identify obstacles to a "flipped" model
Identify out of class content methods of deployment
Identify methods to hold students accountable for out of class content
