Description
Many students are challenged by the concepts underlying the research process and by the disciplinary practices and habits of mind that are important in becoming a proficient users of research and the information environment. The new Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, recently released by the Association of College and Research Libraries, identifies six major ideas or “threshold concepts” which students should learn in order to develop expertise with information. In this workshop, representatives from the University Libraries will show how these major ideas (Scholarship is a Conversation, Information Has Value, Authority is Constructed and Contextual, and others) can be used to create better research assignments and experiences for undergraduate students.
