Description
** This is an event for New Instructors and requires homework.
Nervous about your first day in the classroom? You're not alone! We at CLSE want to give you a chance to relieve some of your worry by presenting a "dress rehearsal" of part of your first week's lab session.
This workshop will give you the chance to see others' presentation styles, and receive feedback on your own. You will have the opportunity to 'teach' us an 8 minute segment of your first lab session in a supportive environment. Some ideas of what to present include: an ice breaker, introducing yourself to the class, giving basic information on lab structure and expectations, lab safety, or the first week's lab introduction. We will also briefly discuss information you should cover with your students on the first day of lab, and field questions you have in preparing for teaching for CLSE. The workshop should take approximately two hours.
Please sign up by RSVP and completing the survey: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d7sBqONMRGs9dvo. Thereafter, visit the Carmen 5001 site to access materials to help you prepare for the event (go to Modules -> Feedback -> Microteaching -> Microteaching for New TAs). Please choose the instructions appropriate to the course you will be teaching, and take a moment to explore the evaluation rubric. Please feel free to contact Toacca (Roberts.2384@osu.edu) with any questions or concerns.
If you would like to present, but your schedule requires that you arrive late or leave early, email Toacca (Roberts.2384@osu.edu) to determine whether you can still participate.
