See details below. ** This is a two-part workshop - you must attend both parts - see details below. Description Draft a peer-reviewed statement that reflects your teaching beliefs and experiences in this interactive, two-part online workshop. Participants will work to draft and edit a teaching statement, which is often required for US academic job applications. We will discuss elements of teaching statements, evidence of effective teaching tailored for different academic jobs, and strategies to get started or polish existing teaching statements. Participants from all disciplines will become better equipped and prepared to communicate their teaching practice through this workshop's collaborative, peer-review process. Workshop Schedule This workshop has two online sessions, which participants are required to attend, at 2-3:30PM ET / 1-2:30PM CT / 12-1:30PM MT / 11AM-12:30PM PT on Wednesday, October 23 and October 30. Workload Participants will be expected to draft (or to revise an existing draft) a teaching philosophy statement in between sessions. Registration & Enrollment This workshop is limited to 40 participants. Early registration for CIRTL members only is open from August 19 through October 11. Regular registration runs from October 12 through October 18. STEM/SBE grad students and postdocs from CIRTL institutions receive priority; we refer to the institution, role, and discipline in your website profile when assessing priority.
