The graduate students in EEOB are hosting a panel discussion in which grad students from multiple scientific disciplines (EEOB, SENR, and ENT) will have the opportunity to ask recent faculty hires and older faculty serving on search committees for advice on applying for academic jobs in the Biological Sciences. Many of our graduate students have taken advantage of university-wide events on preparing for the job market, but would benefit from more discipline-specific advice. Topics of discussion will include how to write competitive research and teaching statements and how to give a strong positive impression when interviewing.
