Seminar Topic - PackBack PackBack presents a new take on the classic online discussion board that they call the ‘Curiosity Community’. Rather than responding to a prompt, question, or article as is used in many discussion boards, PackBack requires that students post original questions to their classmates then respond with well-researched answers. Each question and answer is automatically assigned a ‘curiosity score’ based on the depth and thought-provoking nature of the question. We initially used a lecture section of Biology 1101 to pilot the use of PackBack with students. In this seminar, I will talk about the experiences we had using the platform, along with the feedback received from both students and lab instructors involved in the course.
