ESTA, our Educational Studies TA Organization, will be hosting the Department of Educational Studies’ third annual Buckeye Teaching Showcase. It is open to all Ohio State students and faculty. The showcase will consist of table talks (30 minutes in length) about teaching, presented by some of the TAs from our department. Those interested in K-12 teaching and college teaching will also be invited to attend. Some of the topics that will covered include: 1. Creating a Positive Classroom Climate 2. The Right Pace: Formative Assessment as a Driver of Instruction 3. Reconfiguring STEM Education for Egalitarian Aims 4. Principles, Duties, and Goods, Oh My! Considering a Synthetic Ethical Framework 5. Google Folders for Planning, Assessment, and Collaboration 6. The Power of a Teacher’s Voice: Where’s the Line Between Authenticity and Indoctrination? 7. Facilitating Discussion Through Targeted Questioning Strategies 8. Prompting Self-Regulated Learning in the Classroom 9. Helping Students Embrace and Learn from Failure 10.
