Description
** This activity is 2 points total with a required reflection.
This Friday, Beth Luoma from Yale University and Chrissy Spencer from Georgia Tech, will open a discussion on creative & fresh ideas for virtual labs, lab classes sans laboratories, and physical, hands-on lab strategies in their short presentation entitled, "Experimenting with Mice and Keyboards: Approaches to Virtual Labs."
Per popular request, we will have ample time for small group discussions to share resources and experience, ask questions, self-reflect, and even brainstorm some novel ideas. You can choose your break-out room topic based on your preference to casually socialize or discuss options for lab classes more intently.
Join us for Friday's "SI Happy Hour" to wrap-up the week! Grab a drink, get a snack, and drop in for a few minutes on Zoom to share challenges and successes around the rapid transition to remote teaching and learning. Chat with others who may be having common experiences at their home institutions. Based on research by the Summer Institutes, we know that supports are three times more important than barriers in implementing Scientific Teaching in typical classroom environments, so join us for support from the SI community (Bathgate et al., 2019a, 2019b). See you soon- on zoom!
