Description
In this follow-up to the “Teaching Strategies to Foster Student Academic Belonging & Growth Culture” workshop, we will explore how fostering a sense of academic belonging and a growth-oriented culture can significantly enhance student achievement and overall well-being. Participants will examine the three dimensions of student engagement - behavioral, emotional, and cognitive - comparing how they intersect and differ, and analyzing their impact on student academic success. By exploring these concepts, participants will learn practical teaching strategies to create positive learning environments that promote belonging, encourage persistence, and support deep engagement. The session emphasizes the connection between engagement and growth culture, equipping participants with actionable approaches to strengthen both.

Following this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • describe the impact of student academic belonging and growth culture on student academic achievement and students’ overall sense of belonging
  • compare behavioral, emotional, and cognitive student engagement how they relate and differ
  • identify how behavioral, emotional, and cognitive student engagement affects student academic success
  • implement teaching strategies to foster student academic belonging and growth culture
