For anyone who needs a refresher, CRUST is a community for STEM TAs here at Ohio State with three major focuses: 1) Professional development 2) Community building 3) Exploration of research-based teaching practices. CRUST will be great for people who are interested in pursuing a teaching position in the future or have a passion for education. To our knowledge, CRUST is the first and only student org at OSU that focuses on professional development for STEM educators. CRUST also provides a space for TAs to connect with each other.
The next CRUST meeting will be on Nov 30th at 5pm via Zoom (information below) and we will be talking about learning theories (papers attached), more specifically motivation theories in learning. One paper (attached) is a review on motivation theories in learning and the other paper analyzed changes in student motivation from before and after the onset of COVID-19 in the United States. Remember, if you present at a CRUST meeting you will receive more points for Bio 5001. All you will need to do is pick out a research-based paper and outline the paper on PowerPoint or any other presentation software so that we as a group can discuss the paper.
If you have any questions or a paper you wish to discuss, please email Chelsea Wright (wright.2175).
RSVP for the workshop with the CLSE here.
Following the workshop, email Amy Kulesza.5 to confirm your attendance for the full event time. If you were not able to attend the full event, email Amy Kulesza.5 to discuss the possibility of 5001 course points.
