Are you looking for a fun way to give back to the community while adding valuable outreach and teaching experience to your resume? Come help the 6th grade students at Hilltonia Middle School learn about Kinetic and Potential Energy and perform a fun and interactive activity! This demonstration will be during the morning of Tuesday, March 1st, 8:40-12:10pm. Carpooling will be offered, please indicate in your e-mail if you are interested. Also, the time commitment is flexible, so if you would like to help out but are only available for a limited time, please indicate your availability. We would be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have as well as provide additional information if you would like to help out! Also, please visit our OSU BOX account for more information and to see the student handout and lab procedure: https://osu.box.com/s/qhsrrpa996uudvpmht4iec07zomh4ghp If you are interested, please respond to the MCDB contact, Alecia Wagner (wagner.934@osu.edu), or the OSBP contacts, Tasha Manesis (manesis.3@osu.edu) or Janie Frandsen (frandsen.7@osu.edu). In order to get complete credit for this assignment, you need to answer the following reflection prompts (Place reflection document in the dropbox): What were the learning outcomes for the demonstration? Did the students achieve them? How do you know? How does this teaching/learning context compare to your teaching in CLSE? Are there misconceptions that you see in the middle school students and persist in your own students? You can earn up to 6 points depending upon the amount of time you spend at the middle school. Let Erica know how much time you were there after you get back.
