Topic
SI Happy Hour! (Kem Saichaie) Using COPUS to Evaluate Your Teaching Strategies
Description
Instructors, and the teaching practices they employ, play a critical role in improving student learning in college Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses. Consequently, a classroom observation protocol known as the Classroom Observation Protocol for Undergraduate STEM or COPUS was developed to collect information on the range and frequency of active learning strategies employed in individual classrooms. The COPUS allows observers, after a short 1.5 hour training period, to reliably characterize how faculty and students are spending their time in the classroom. Today's SI Happy Hour team will show through research and experience why and how you may want to use the COPUS with a friend or colleague to check out your own teaching practice.
RSVP here with the CLSE and by using this link above. Following the workshop, email Erica Szeyller.1 to confirm your attendance for the full event time. If you were not able to attend the full event, email Erica Szeyller.1 to discuss the possibility of 5001 course points.
