Come join the CLSE Journal Group! The purpose of this group is to informally discuss recent literature in science/biology education to help keep us aware of important developments and to help us make scholarly decisions regarding our pedagogical changes. The group will meet every other week in the CLSE conference room. Each meeting will have one person who chooses the readings and leads the discussion. We encourage faculty, staff, and graduate students to take turns as the meeting facilitator. ** This week Corrie Pieterson will lead a discussion on how stereotype threat affects student learning, and what teachers can do about it. The articles that we will be reading are: Krendl et al. (2008) The Negative Consequences of Threat & Sparks (2016) Reducing Stereotype Threat in the Science and Mathematics Classroom.
