Description
This week, the Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning is hosting candidates making campus visits as part of an instructional consultant search. Candidates have been asked to present on a topic related to inclusive teaching and/or Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice in a teaching and learning context. The presentations are open to Drake Institute staff, partners, and constituents, and include the following.

Inclusive Teaching in the College Classroom
Inclusive Teaching in the College Classroom will help guide instructors in the process of designing and implementing an inclusive course and learning environment. Exploring evidence-based research and teaching methods, this workshop will provide practical strategies for meeting the diverse educational needs of all students. This is an introductory workshop designed for instructors across all ranks and disciplines.

During this workshop, participants will
• Learn the key principles of inclusive teaching.
• Develop a clear understanding of how and why inclusive teaching supports student success.
• Practice teaching methods and adaptive strategies that consider students’ diverse learning preferences, abilities, ways of knowing, and prior experience and knowledge.
• Acquire knowledge of practical methodologies for designing inclusive courses and sustaining a classroom culture of equality and belonging.
