Description
Join us every other week for CLSE Seminar Series for presentations on teaching and learning! Feel free to bring your lunch.
Seminar Topic - Fostering metacognitive development and the ongoing studies in CLSE that relate to this effort.
In this session we will explore the theoretical framework of metacognition as it relates to self-regulated learning, while also discussing practical approaches to facilitating student metacognitive growth. In addition, we will also discuss two ongoing CLSE research studies regarding effects of student metacognitive training. The first involves an investigation into the potential for course learning outcomes to serve as tools for metacognitive practice. The second study seeks to determine if student metacognitive training is “enough” to support student success, or if dedicated training in additional elements of self-regulated learning is warranted.
