Description
Real world assignments and activities can improve student engagement in any class. This introductory workshop explores the kinds of community engaged teaching and learning supported by Ohio State, reviews successful community-based assignments, courses, and programs, and guides participants through the initial stages of designing experiential learning for their courses.
After this workshop participants will be able to:
- describe different types of community engagement appropriate for their courses
- name the benefits of integrating community engaged teaching and learning into new and existing courses
- align potential CETL projects with their course and programmatic goals
- create a personalized plan for exploring CETL in their field or classroom
