Description
Evaluating information sources for credibility and relevance is one of the most challenging tasks for many students. The “lateral reading” method is an evidence-based strategy for evaluating sources, especially websites, that can help students more effectively identify trustworthy information. In this workshop, part of the University Libraries Information Literacy Virtual Workshop series, participants will learn more about the lateral reading strategy and will be provided with strategies and resources that they can use to teach students the lateral reading method.

This workshop will take place, via Zoom, on Thursday, September 22 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. Participants will be sent a Zoom link 24 hours in advance.

Eligible participants who complete the workshop can earn 1 hour credit toward the Teaching Information Literacy teaching endorsement from the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning.
