Description
** For participants in Biology 5001: This activity is 3 points total with a *required* reflection.

This Friday, October 28th, join a conversation with Brie Tripp about "Implementing Scientist Spotlights for Undergraduate Science Courses".

The Scientist Spotlights Initiative aims to empower college and university science instructors to implement inclusive science curricula as a means for students of all backgrounds to envision themselves in science. The Scientist Spotlight assignment links students to resources about counter-stereotypical scientists and their associated research as it is related to course topics in students’ science courses. Studies have shown that Scientist Spotlight assignments enhance students' relatability to scientists and improve science learning. In this workshop, participants will meaningfully integrate Scientist Spotlights into their curricula by revising their syllabi with Scientist Spotlights Assignments.

Sit down with other engaged colleagues on Zoom. Based on research by the Summer Institutes, supports are three times more important than barriers in implementing Scientific Teaching in classrooms. Join us for support with the National Institute on Scientific Teaching, formerly the Summer Institutes (Bathgate et al., 2019a, 2019b).

Make sure you RSVP with the CLSE and the hosting unit!
·      RSVP for the workshop with the CLSE here by clicking “RSVP” in the upper right corner. If you decide not to attend, please “Cancel RSVP”.
·      Also RSVP with the hosting unit (if other than the CLSE) using the event webpage linked above.

Following the workshop, email Erica Szeyller.1 to document your attendance for the full event time. If you were not able to attend the full event, email Erica Szeyller.1 to discuss the possibility of 5001 course points.
