Description
** Must attend all sessions to get the points February 14, 21, 28, and March 7 Instructors are short on time. We know that. However, we also know that instructors at Ohio State care deeply about their students and want to be as effective as possible with the time they devote to their courses. James M. Lang, author of Cheating Lessons (2013) and On Course (2008), has recently published a new book with your needs in mind, Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning. In this book, Lang distills recent research on learning and educational psychology and provides easy-to-implement, real-world examples to show how making small, evidence-based changes to your everyday teaching practice can foster student learning. Join us for a four-part discussion of this book this spring. Those who commit to attending all four sessions will receive a free copy of the book, courtesy of UCAT. We will also be running a parallel online book group for those who are unable to make the in-person sessions for which priority will be given to Regional Campus Instructors. Registration for each version of the group is limited to 12 people. Please RSVP here and at the event webpage: http://ucat.osu.edu/events/spring-2017-book-group-small-teaching-2017-02-14/ Following the event, email Erica Szeyller.1 to confirm your attendance.
