Description
Instructors too often find that students respond to assignments unevenly, that while some students seem to approach their assignments successfully, others seem to misunderstand those same assignments, or appear to lack strategies to tackle those tasks productively. Writing Across the curriculum will share an approach to transparent assignment design that recent research has shown promotes improved student outcomes in general, particularly among underserved populations (Winklemes et al. 2016). WAC will show how writing might enhance transparency in assignment design, and guide instructors as they re-frame an assignment and related classroom activities to promote inclusive transparency in learning and teaching.
