Building on our more basic “Responding to Student Writing” workshop, in this workshop, the Writing Across the Curriculum team will review research about best practices in responding positively to student writing in ways that motivate students. We’ll suggest concrete strategies for praising positive elements, honest but motivating ways to describe areas for potential improvement, and ways to encourage revision without doubling your grading burden.
