Description
This interactive workshop introduces faculty and instructors to the foundational concepts of experiential learning. Participants will explore the definition and historical roots of experiential learning, examine its key theoretical frameworks (including the Kolb Experiential Learning Cycle), and identify the essential components that distinguish experiential learning from other forms of active learning. The session will also highlight evidence-based pedagogical practices that foster meaningful experiential learning opportunities across disciplines.
After this workshop participants will be able to:
- define experiential learning and distinguish it from active learning and other pedagogical approaches
- describe the theoretical foundations of experiential learning
- identify and explain the core components of experiential learning
- recognize best practices and essential elements for designing effective experiential learning activities
- apply experiential learning principles to their own teaching contexts
