Examine how social and cultural contexts shape the experiences of undergraduate women in STEM. In each week of this series, we will discuss the unique challenges faced by women in their educational trajectories. Despite efforts to broaden participation in STEM over the last few decades, women remain underrepresented in these fields. Across the series, we will explore how equity-oriented, inclusive practices can transform teaching and learning in STEM. In the second of four events on women in STEM, we will define and characterize stereotype threat and implicit bias. We will assess the impact of gender bias in STEM teaching and learning. Lastly, we will discuss strategies for creating inclusive environments. Please RSVP here and at the event webpage: https://www.cirtl.net/events/series/30 Following the event, email Erica Szeyller.1 to confirm you attendance.
