Description
Teaching case studies (TCS) connect real-world stories to relevant course content. While this teaching strategy started over a century ago in business and law classrooms, in the last few decades TCS have entered both medical schools and STEM classrooms. In this session we will review the strengths of TCS pedagogy and discuss how to build stories with empathetic characters that are part of interesting stories or mysteries. Participants will find story ideas and brainstorm how to connect these “case stubs” to core content. We will then discuss next steps and potential publication outlets for teaching case studies. - NOTE in the upcoming days until we meet, keep your eyes open for interesting new stories or publications that could form the start for a potential case study, and bring them on Friday!
