Developing and Grading Inclusive Assignments
Assignments perform many functions in the classroom. For students, assignments offer opportunities to practice and receive feedback on their work. For instructors, assignments can be a source of information about their teaching and student learning, as well as a way to evaluate student performance. Inclusive assignment designing and grading practices are therefore a central part of providing all students with equal opportunities to learn and succeed in our courses.

During this workshop, participants will
• Consider how various facets of student identity impact their learning and performance.
• Apply the principles of Universal Design for Learning to make their assignment design and grading practices more inclusive and equitable.
• Consider ways to communicate more transparently with students about assignments and grading criteria.
