Description
Whether you're teaching face-to-face or online, student-to-student interaction is essential for a successful course. But we don’t always have time to let students collaborate during class, and it’s easy to get stuck in a discussion board rut. This session will spark your creativity for other ways to engage students in collaborative learning in online spaces. By understanding the elements of collaboration that drive learning, you’ll identify opportunities in your own course, create an activity, and begin using the CarmenCanvas tools that support student collaboration.

Login Instructions

Find the CarmenZoom link in "Session Details" and in the registrant confirmation email.
To join:

  1. In the sign in window, select Sign In with SSO.
  2. The domain is osu.zoom.us. Select Continue.
  3. Sign in using your Ohio State Username (lastname.#) and password.
If you have never used CarmenZoom, you will need to activate your account before you can access the session. Please download the desktop client, or the app if using a mobile device, and log into go.osu.edu/carmenzoom to activate your account. For help, visit Getting Started in CarmenZoom in the Teaching and Learning Resource Center. Be sure to test Zoom at least one hour in advance of the session and contact the Service Desk at 614-688-4357 or carmen@osu.edu if you have any issues.

You must attend at least 45 minutes of this session for it to show as completed on your BuckeyeLearn transcript.

Accommodation Requests

All of our virtual workshops enable automated Zoom captioning in the main session (please note: Zoom captioning is not currently available in breakout rooms). If you require live captioning or another accommodation, such as interpretation, please contact Educator Professional Learning. Requests made 10 business days in advance of the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access; however, the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this time period.
