Description
Case studies can be a great way to encourage engagement, critical thinking, problem-solving, and knowledge application in the classroom. This workshop will provide participants with the benefits of using this active learning strategy, tips for and practice in designing them, suggestions for classroom integration, and case study assessment tools. Participants will leave the workshop with a template for designing case students and numerous resources.
After this workshop participants will be able to:
- articulate why case studies are effective in promoting student engagement and critical thinking
- design effective case studies and adapt them for their own discipline
- develop strategies for integrating case studies into their teaching practices
- determine what case study assessment tool will be most effective for gauging student learning in their classrooms
