Description
In early February, the Institute for Teaching and Learning will offer a Course Design Institute (CDI) to support instructors seeking to redesign (or design) a course for the summer or fall semester OR for submission as a General Education course.

A CDI is an intensive experience in which Ohio State instructors are introduced to a “backward design” process, as well as strategies to encourage significant learning. Participants receive the tools and strategies necessary to build or rebuild effective, student-centered courses. Most important, the CDI creates the time and space to concentrate on the work itself in the company of colleagues and educational developers.

This CDI comprises five synchronous sessions and guided design work outside of the sessions using course materials and activities. Participants and facilitators will meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. via Zoom Tuesdays starting February 8 and going through March 8.

This CDI is a pathway to Instructional Redesign, and eligible participants will also leave the experience with all the information they need (and much of the content) to complete an IR portfolio.

To reserve a spot in the CDI, complete this form (link is external).

If you have registered for this event, or are on the waitlist and require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate, please contact drakeinstitute@osu.edu. Requests should be made at least two weeks prior to the event, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.

All members of the university community are welcome in Drake Institute activities, programs, services, and employment —regardless of age, ancestry, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, genetic information, HIV/AIDS status, military status, national origin, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, or any other bases under the law.

Institute for Teaching and Learning programming is offered in accordance with university guidelines associated with in-person and remote activities. The Institute will inform registrants of delivery modifications should those guidelines change.
