Description
** This activity is 3 points total with a *required* reflection.

In this session we will discuss the emerging Assessment Skills in BIO (ASK BIO) network funded by the National Science Foundation on writing good assessment items. The network focuses on selected response questions that are higher-order because they are the most time-consuming for faculty to create. In addition, this work is often done individually and time constraints often make it difficult to discuss items with colleagues. The ASK BIO network seeks to build collaboration around this task and help faculty develop improved assessment items. Item writing checklists, test blueprints, and aligned question sets will be discussed as well as lessons learned by the network in its first year.

Sit down with other engaged colleagues on Zoom. Based on research by the Summer Institutes, supports are three times more important than barriers in implementing Scientific Teaching in classrooms. Join us for support with the National Institute on Scientific Teaching, formerly the Summer Institutes (Bathgate et al., 2019a, 2019b).
