SI Happy Hour! "Incorporating Active Learning into Online Teaching" with Chrissy Spencer (Georgia Tech)
Description
How do we bring active learning, one of the “Pillars of Scientific Teaching,” to the remote classroom? Join Chrissy Spencer as she talks about approaches she and her colleagues at Georgia Tech have used this spring and summer to help students engage in the construction of their own learning, online. In a short presentation, she'll provide evidence from the literature, anecdotes from large lecture and small discussion courses, and a few strategies to try. Afterwards, breakout room discussion will focus on how to maintain and inspire student engagement in our shift from face-to-face teaching.
RSVP here with the CLSE and by using this link in order to receive the Zoom link: https://yale.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJItcuqgrzIvHdFrBRivzXjx3VXbrPDHWudo?utm_source=Live+Subscribed+SI+Community&utm_campaign=d5de825a6a-March_2019_SI_Newsletter_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_9266ddfc49-d5de825a6a-363227565
