Description
Research assignments can be sources of frustration for both students and instructors. Some students will come to college better prepared than others to complete research assignments. This workshop focuses on how instructors can redesign research assignments keeping equity and inclusion in mind. Participants will learn to identify some of the key learning bottlenecks that may cause students to struggle related to research assignments, identify the way in which their own expertise and experience may contribute to these bottlenecks, and learn how they can use the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework to redesign research assignments to make expectations more transparent, contributing to a more equitable learning environment for all students.

For those affiliated with Ohio State, this workshop counts as credit toward the Teaching Information Literacy endorsement from the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning and/or the Inclusive Teaching Endorsement.
