Beginning September 15, UCAT will facilitate a 4-week “Teaching the Election” reading group. Rather than using a single book, this group will read and discuss selections about pedagogical approaches to teaching controversial topics as well as current primary sources that cover issues as they unfold during the election cycle. We will discuss how to use a focus on the election to engage disciplinary skills and knowledge, strategies for keeping potentially heated discussions productive, and ideas for creating activities and assignments that draw on the current election issues.
