Description
Beginning September 15, UCAT will facilitate a 4-week “Teaching the Election” reading group. Rather than using a single book, this group will read and discuss selections about pedagogical approaches to teaching controversial topics as well as current primary sources that cover issues as they unfold during the election cycle. We will discuss how to use a focus on the election to engage disciplinary skills and knowledge, strategies for keeping potentially heated discussions productive, and ideas for creating activities and assignments that draw on the current election issues. If you’re interested in hearing interdisciplinary perspectives about how to utilize the election process as a productive topic for student learning—whether you want to teach a whole course about the election or just a small portion, please join us for a month-long conversation!
** This is a four week series, you must attend all meetings to receive the 8 points.
Please RSVP here as well as at the event webpage: http://ucat.osu.edu/events/teaching-election-reading-group-2016-09-15/
