This book group meets February 6, 13, 20, 27 and March 5 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Are you interested in learning about evidence-based teaching strategies and activities that you can incorporate into your courses to improve student learning? In Teach Students How to Learn Designing for Learning, Saundra McGuire shares tools and strategies to improve student learning and success. Her methods can often be accomplished in a single session, transforming students from memorizers and regurgitators to students who begin to think critically.

The Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning is partnering with institute affiliate Jane Hammons of University Libraries to organize a book discussion group in February for those interested in reading and discussing Teach Students to Learn. Participants will be expected to read 2-4 chapters per week, reflect on discussion questions, and attend and engage in a weekly synchronous meeting via Zoom.

Specific outcomes for each session will be shared within the book group. Broadly, those actively participating in the Teach Students to Learn Book Group will be able to:
