Seminar Topic - Calculus reforms in the mathematics department
Ohio State's Department of Mathematics continues its ongoing project to improve student success and STEM retention in calculus courses. With the generous support of Randy Smith through Ohio State's Office of Academic Affairs, the Department has hired a calculus design
coordinator (Dr. John Johnson) and undertaken multiple interventions (active learning, flipped lectures, open source textbooks), the effects of which are being viewed through many lenses. This talk focuses on affective survey data and conceptual pre- and post-tests.
